June HiFiber Meeting-Zentangles

Penny little presented a workshop on Zentangles last Thursday for HiFiber. She gave us a little history of how it started and acquired it's name. Rick Roberts (a monk) used doodling as a form of Zen. Maria Thomas (a quilter) incorporated them into quilts and became Zentangles. However, Pat Ferguson took the quilted Zentangle to a higher level. More information at http://patfergusonquilts.com/zentangle.com/indes.php

My apologizes to Penny for not getting a photo of her demo. I do have photos of a quilt in which she incorporated Zentangles.

Penny made little journals for each of us to add Zentangles on paper. She also incorporated a piece of fabric so that we could make a Zentangle for the front of the journal.

Working with Micron pens, we drew outlines using a CD and then created our own Zentangle by making different designs in each section.

Some interesting designs don't you think?

While we worked on our designs Penny ask those who had show and tell to let use see what they brought.

Sandra brought this finished piece combining the painting workshop with the 3-D workshop.

Beatriz shows us the beginning embellishments she is adding to her hand-dyed Shabori piece.

Diana brought this finished underwater scene made by using the 3-D technique taught by Barbara Sokol.

We exchanged portraits at our last meeting and we are to have a fabric portrait ready to show at our Sept. meeting. We decided that they can be any size with a minimum of 8 x 10.

Heidi Wolko will give a demo on discharge in July.
