Teaching

I've been teaching a lot this year and it's been fun. I have a Mini Nature class coming up next Monday in N. Augusta, SC. I've had a lot of request for a bird pattern, so I've been working on creating one. One of the things I like to show my students, is how the background can change the whole mood of a piece.
These are a few of the different backgrounds I tried.

WHICH DO YOU LIKE BEST?

I have been tapped to join the Round the World Blog Hop. My post will be coming out Monday, Oct. 13. Come back and see what I have to say.

  1. I like the second one. I think the neutral colors of the background really bring out the red of the cardinal. And I also like the complexity of the background. Funny...on recent blogpost, I showed a background with different foregrounds.

    1. That's interesting Regina, usually there are more choices for background.

  2. Very effective demonstration and the moods are indeed very different. I favor the second one colour wise for the same reason as Regina.

  3. Thanks Hilary, the reason for this post is to show the moods and feeling of a work can change with the choice of different backgrounds.

  4. I like the third one. Whenever I see a Cardinal in the winter it is a pleasant shock. That red, red body against the white snow, thus my choice.

    1. Norma, I posted these on my Facebook page earlier this week. The Winter background was by far the favorite.

  5. The first one makes my heART sing. I gravitate towards work with bold color choices, especially the primaries.

  6. I like the second one, but would make the branches darker that the cardinal is sitting on to bring them into the foreground.
