Back to real life and getting ready for an exhibit
Reality has set in, the temperature here in SC was in the low 5o's today instead of the low 70's we experienced every day in CA. Instead of long walks on the beach Kermit and I spent the day catching up.
I spent the day gathering my fiber art for an exhibit at The Center Gallery, located in Sautee Nacoochee, GA. The Center Gallery, presents the Fiber Arts show featuring art by Fiber Soup Group. Martine House and myself are the featured invitational fiber artists. I have some new work for this show and will publish it on my Blog on Feb. 28. Look for it

Visions Exhibit
Unfortunately this photo of the entrance to Oceanside Museum of Art is all I can show you of my visit to the Visions Quilt Exhibition today. However, if you are in the area it is well worth a visit.
A few personal observations, most of the quilts are abstract with a few realistic ones included. Interesting to me, since I have this thing about feeling that todays quilts are quilted to death, many of these pieces had minimal surface quilting. The quilts that did have a lot of surface quilting needed the quilting. I found it refreshing that the artist did what they felt should be done to enhance the quilt and not impress a judge. All of the art work was outstanding but a few that really caught my eye was Contemplation by Rita Stiffenson from Urbana, Ohio was a masterpiece of construction. I'm not sure of the name of the quilt but it was made by Kent Williams from Madison, WI. and was described as an Ogee design. Moon and Mars by Charlotte Ziebarth, I just love her work. Bonne Nuit, by Wendeanne Stitt was fun and compelling. Transcendent, by Robert S. Leathers was heart tugging in it's story of his home, that took seven years to build, being destroyed in four hours during the San Diego Firestorm of 2207.
Go out of your way to see this show!

Vacation in California
I am in Encinitas, CA today and my son, Michael is helping me set up my new Blog. I am somewhat computer challenged but am working to over come that handicap.
Yesterday we had rain all day. Much needed according to my son so we didn't begrudge the rain. Being from SC, where we have had a drought for three or four years, we understand the need for rain.
Today was beautiful. Walked down town to a wonderful bead shop and purchased beads for a group that I belong to in Seneca, SC called "High Fiber". Each artist will get a small bag of beads and they all must be used in one piece. I will post these after they are finished.
My husband and I walked on the beach in the afternoon. Encinitas has beautiful beachs. I love the smooth round rocks that lay on the beach.
