High Fiber Meeting
This is a work in progress by Donna B. This represents one of the things I love about fiber art. Donna started with an idea. She was going to put the trunks of the trees on her background an add leaves. After she applied the trunks she liked the fact that what she had done looked like a wild fire had been through the woods. The background she had chosen reflected the look with misty trees in the background. Not intended, I believe. Going to look great when it's finished.

Fabric Collage
Out art quilt group "High Fiber" is working out of Susan Stein's "Fabric Art Workshop" book. This month we are suppose to put together a collage. Not my strong point but I really wanted to give it an effort. I have put together several small pieces this year using a photograph I took in Oceanside, CA. in Feb. My husband and I had visited the "Visions" exhibit and met our son's family to have lunch out on the pier. When we were leaving I noticed a great shadow of us on the pier. I love this photo so it has become one I use frequently. With the directions of Susan's book I chose these fabrics to be my beginning.
Fabric Collage
This was my original idea. I printed the shadow photo on organza that I had treated with Bubble Jet. I then fused the organza to Misty Fuse. I decided to use a sepia colored fabric to fuse the shadows to and edged the photo with a piece of beige fabric. (The photo doesn't show well here click on the photo to see the image better.) I have used this photo in several small pieces this year and really like the possibilities it offers. In the previous pieces I cut out around the shadow but thought I would leave the background in this piece. I like this composition but felt it needed something else. Note that I have not yet decided on the size.
